Wildlife Survey Form
We really need your help recording wildlife that you see in Tower Hamlets. This information goes direct to GIGL (Greenspace Information for Greater London), the capital's open space and biodiversity records centre – who collate, manage and make available detailed information on London's wildlife, parks, nature reserves, gardens and other open spaces.
At the local level, this information can help the council planning department to take biodiversity into account when making decisions about planning applications.
There are two ways of doing this.
1. Ad hoc sightings
Register at: www.gigl.org.uk/Submit/tabid/63/Default.aspx (takes less than 1 minute), and submit some basic information about the particular species that you have seen such as name of species (e.g Kingfisher), date and where you saw it. This will go directly to GIGL who will share the information with relevant partners, including us.
2. Regular wildlife spotter
If you are a more regular wildlife spotter, and you have more than the odd sighting to share (say if you were recording wildlife in your gardening on a regular basis), then you should use this form. Although it looks complicated – don’t be put off! You don’t have to fill in all fields. There are four Mandatory fields:

- Observer's name
- Date
- Grid reference / postcode. (Note: please take care when entering postcode. Must have space between first and second half of postcode and take care with zeros and o’s!)
