As part of the Big Waterways Clean-up 2012, Thames21 is searching for the best images of 'The waterways of the Olympic Host Boroughs'. We are looking for images that characterise the Olympic Waterways, encompassing nature, London 2012, sport and people enjoying their rivers and canals.
Big Waterways Clean Up coordinator, Ben Fenton said "The aim of the competition is to get people out and about and to encourage the appreciation of our waterways'. The annual East London event is this year aiming to promote community involvement in London 2012, and to help people make the most of the wide network of waterways that characterise the Olympic Boroughs.
This accessible competition is open to people of all ages and abilities, and images may be entered in any format from any type of camera. The closing date for competition entries is 30th June 2012.
The winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher and will feature in an exhibition at Millers House Café, Three Mills Lane along with 15 other finalists for one month from Wednesday 4th July.
The competition is being run by Thames21 as part of the Big Waterways Clean-up 2012, a partnership campaign led by Thames21 to connect East Londoners to their waterways and to London 2012, with a wide range of volunteer-based river and canal activities. Over 600 volunteers have already taken part in 32 events to clean, tidy and improve the canals and riversides in East London as part of the campaign.
