Free wildflower training course

Michelle Lindson of the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park writes:

We are now taking bookings for an exciting, FREE, six week course called “Growing and Knowing Wildflowers”. You will discover wild flowers, learning how to grow and care for them, and, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the course is being delivered in the wonderful setting of Stepney City Farm!

The course runs for six Sundays between 3 March and 7 April 2019. It is suitable for beginners and those wishing to improve their knowledge and skills, or those wanting to develop a community project involving wild flowers. It is being delivered by ‘Nature and Us’, our project highlighting the importance of nature to local communities. The course is available to people who live, work, study or have some kind of stake in the Mile End and Stepney area.

Session Overview (all sessions start promptly at 10am and finish at 12.30pm)

Sunday 3 March – Growing wildflowers from seed
Sunday 10 March – Propagating wildflowers vegetatively (cuttings, divisions, bulbs)
Sunday 17 March – Short-lived wildflowers (annuals and biennials)
Sunday 24 March – Long-lived wildflowers (perennials)
Sunday 31 March – Wildflower communities and how to create and sustain them
Sunday 7 April – Wildflowers for wildlife, especially pollinators
