Dave Bedford of the Lower Regents Coalition writes:

Another year is ending so I wanted to thank all of you who joined in and helped during 2022. There were 780 volunteer engagements, totalling 3000 hours. We collected 980 bags of rubbish that will be recycled and won’t end up in the rivers or oceans, well done, fantastic work by all our volunteers!

Photo of volunteers with a vegetated raft beside a canalWith the help of our volunteers we were awarded another Green Flag for our stretch of canal, installed another Biomatrix floating ecosystem (photo left), and helped prepare the ground for another 250 square metres of wildflower meadows. These will be planted in Spring next year so watch this space.

We will resume our monthly litter picks at the end of January. If you’d like to join our mailing list to be alerted to these and other events, please email us.

I also have a request. I am not the best at social media. If there is a media-savvy person out there who would be happy to help, then we would love to hear from you. A few hours here and there, might look good on a CV. If you might be able to help, please let me know.

I hope you all have a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Keep up with the Lower Regents Coalition’s activities via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.
